This book is about twin brothers named Russell and Owen that are nothing like each other. Owen is an athlete, and Russell is a mathlete. Both of them obviously have very different talents. Then a new basketball coach comes along and recruits Russell, the mathlete. Turns out, Russell is a pro. When Russell starts to do better at basketball than Owen, the athlete, jealousy starts to rise like pollen on a spring day. Owen was tired of his twin brother getting all of the shine, so on the court he hogged the ball like a tiger and his dinner. Owen’s plans didn’t succeed, so that left him one last choice. Owen did something that defied everything he learned in life, he stole Russell’s lucky Nikes. Owen knew that without his lucky Nikes, Russel would never be able to play basketball like he was playing ever again. Russell didn’t have time to realize it, because he was the captain of the Masters of the Mind, a group of students that compete in math and problem solving contests, but when Russell found out, he was furious. Russell was even more furious when he found out that his twin brother, Owen, did it. It took a long time, but Russell finally accepted Owen’s apology. Owen and Russell went on and won game after game, and Russell won the Masters of the Mind state championship after all of his hard work.
